Climate change is a big challenge for all of us

energy is the key

That was the reason for our project SISMEC, an akronym for sustainable integration of the subject matter energy consultancy into commercial and technical curricula.

Three partner schools from Riihimäki (Finland), Sibiu (Romania) and Hamburg (Germany) established project teams to integrate the subject energy consultancy into school organisation based on the idea of a virtual company.

This site provides contents in four languages (English , Finnish, Romanian, German). In addition the schools from Finland and Romania set up two further sites with the same title, but providing special contents of regional interest.

The organisation ensures that different courses and types of education and training are involved in each school. You will find more details following the Team items on the left.

Overall background

The subject Renewable Energy is part of the broader concept sustainability, that is of increasing importance all over the world.

Education and training is one of the most important areas to ensure required changes in behaviour, production and social life. Considering the requirements e.g.  the German Commssion of the UNESCO published clear statements.

The German Commission appreciated the resolution of the UN plenary meeting for a Decade "Education for sustainable development". That resolution emphasises the meaning of Life Long Learning for a comprehensive policy concerning sustainability.

It is a joint issue to establish the mission statement sustainability in all institutions of (vocational) education and training as well initial education as further training. In detail sustainability means to take into account the interaction between ecological, economical, social and cultural processes.

Sustainability means

  • - new methods
  • - new materials
  • - new organisations

and it means long term solutions in all areas.
